The Heath TRSA Student Ambassadors

Tackling Racism in Schools Award (TRSA)

In November 2025, The Heath School was invited by the Anthony Walker Foundation to take part in the Tackling Racism in Schools Award (TRSA) programme.

A group of Year 8 students attended a training day at the Merseyside Police Training Academy. They worked with the CSI team, the Roads Policing Unit’s motorcycle team and the mounted section, as well as visiting the stables. The students had a fantastic experience and engaged enthusiastically in every session throughout the day.

They returned to school full of excitement and ready to take the next step in their roles as TRSA Student Ambassadors.

All our YR8 students attend Tackling Racism in Schools Award (TRSA) workshops with Jude Agis, TRSA Programme Manager and the team from the Anthony Walker Foundation.

The Heath Ambassadors played an important role in all the sessions, demonstrating engagement and leadership. They explored topics ranging from unconscious bias to the difference between being “not racist” and being “anti-racist”. Their enthusiasm for taking part, along with the courage many showed when sharing personal experiences of racism, was truly moving. The sessions reinforced the school’s commitment to creating a culture where differences are celebrated, every student feels seen and diversity is valued as a strength.

The students also suggested ideas, including cultural celebration days, demonstrating their commitment to making the school an even more inclusive environment.

The ceremony recognised pupil ambassadors and school leaders for their commitment to challenging racism, celebrating diversity and creating inclusive, respectful learning environments in which every student feels seen, heard and valued.

The awards were presented by Dr Gee Walker MBE, mother of Anthony; co-founder of the Anthony Walker Foundation and a lifelong campaigner for racial justice, alongside distinguished guests from across the region.

The Heath is now beginning its second year of the programme and working towards the Silver Award by continuing its anti-racism work with a new group of pupil ambassadors.
