Welcome, Ashley Hickson-Lovence
Author visit and workshop
On Wednesday 30th September, The Heath was lucky enough to welcome Ashley Hickson-Lovence into the school. An author of numerous novels for young adults Ashley, first met with a small group of students who took part in a workshop where they explored the idea of place: where they were from and their feelings about it. They then wrote their own poetry about their place of choice: Runcorn, Murdishaw, even Subway!
Following this, the whole year group then listened to Ashley as he spoke to them about his background, his inspiration and some of the themes of his fiction. He read from the prologue of his novel Wild East.
The students really enjoyed the experience, full of enthusiasm for what they had heard. We look forward to reading more of their work, inspired by Ashley's wonderful writing.
