Our Governors

Jane Ainsworth

Chair of Governors

Jane has been a Primary and Secondary Parent, Community and Trust appointed Governor for over twenty years, with her current involvement in The Heath School and Palace Fields Primary School as Chair and in the past as Chair of PFPS IMB and as IMB member and Governor at Bridgewater Park Primary School. She was a National Leader of Governance (NLG) until August 2021.

Jane has represented MAT Chairs on the MAT board and in this role she reported directly to the Trust Board on behalf of the Chairs of Governors across the secondary and primary sectors.

Jane has represented Halton Governors on numerous Local Education, Safeguarding Children’s Boards over the past twenty years She was a member of the Halton Association of Governors executive committee until the end of 2013.

Lesley Billingsley

Trust Appointed Governor

Having worked in education for over 25 years Lesley is an Interim Senior Manager with extensive experience in strategic and operational growth across industry and Further Education, currently working within a further education college as Head of Learning English, Maths and ESOL. Lesley has managed a number of varied departments within further education training and development delivering Access to HE qualifications, Higher Education Qualifications and Vocational Qualifications. Skilled in managing teams of up to 30 personnel, whilst adopting a supportive and respected style to create and drive high performing teams.

Lesley's main priority as a governor is supporting the school in delivering first class education for young people in safe, caring and interesting settings where teaching is excellent. Lesley is also completing her Doctor of Education at Liverpool John Moores and her area of research is collaborative teachers professional development.

Julie Hayes

Staff Governor

Julie has been a staff governor at The Heath School for 8 years. She has worked for ten years as a Learning Support Assistant at The Heath where she supports the Peer Mentor, Well-Being and Anti-Bullying Ambassadors programme within school. In addition Julie supports the school house system and is one of the house rep/captains. Prior to that she worked for seven years as a Teaching Assistant in the Primary sector in Halton Schools and during recent years she has achieved a degree in Learning Development and Support.

Over the last few years Julie has supported students that have joined The Heath with English as additional Language and within the last twelve months Julie has also become the EAL coordinator and has competed a TEFL combined course of which she is able to teach English as an additional language. She is also a member of the NALDIC association and is a Co-convenor for the Newcomers and Refugee Special Interest Group, who meet, three times a year on line and have professional speakers to share practical, resource and build a network of support.

Julie was a trustee on the Canal Boat Project Committee and was also on the committee at the local pre-school where her daughter and son attended. She has been a volunteer for various children’s organisations, in particular within the Prince’s Trust Cheshire Committee where her role involved being an application assessor for disadvantaged 14-25 year olds. She was on the committee for five years and during that time took three groups of 18 – 25 year olds on a one-week residential course in Ayr, Scotland.

Amanda Lovell-Kennedy

Trust Appointed Governor

Amanda has had 38 years teaching experience in secondary schools. She has over 20 years’ experience in Senior Leadership as both Assistant Principal and most recently as a Head of School. Amanda has extensive experience in safeguarding, behaviour and student support. Amanda retired from her post as Head of School in July 2022.

In addition she has had 5 years’ experience as a school governor and been chair of governors at a primary school, she has recently been appointed as a Trust governor at The Heath School.

Alicia Parry

Trust Appointed Governor

My Belief: Every child has the right to a good education to assist them to reach their full potential, every child does matter and learning is for life.

My career was in transport management and logistics from which I have now retired. I am currently serving as a Trust appointed governor with responsibilities for SEN, Safeguarding and The Looked after Child.

Having experience of Child Social Care as a foster parent, closing the gap, pupil premium and safeguarding are a priority for me.

It is a privilege to work with so many dedicated and talented staff and governors of The Heath School.

Hayley Rock

Parent Governor

I am really pleased to have been appointed my first governors’ role at The Heath. I wanted to get involved to ensure the parents of students have a voice and they have a proactive and constant lead Into the governing body.

I have 2 daughters currently attending school.

I have worked within buying and retail for 20 years and am currently a buying director for a multi-channel retail business. I feel that I can bring my skill set to the governing body and make a positive difference and ensure the future success and development of the school and the pupils .

Val Snelson

Trust Appointed Governor

Val has had over thirty years teaching experience in various high schools, as Head of Year/Faculty, Deputy Head and Acting Head. She has worked for several examination boards and was Senior Examiner for AQA.

As a governor at The Heath for over twelve years, Val has served on various committees including Finance, Inclusion, Pupil Behaviour Panels and Principal’s Performance Management.
