Young Carers

We offer support to any students who are Young Carers. Young Carers are children and young people who look after someone in the family who has an illness, a disability, is affected by mental ill health or substance misuse. Young carers often take on practical and / or emotional caring responsibilities normally expected of an adult.

We aim to give the students a listening ear and guide them towards the various outside agencies which will be a benefit to them personally. We encourage the students to attend homework club to provide academic support.

We work closely alongside Halton Young Carers who visit The Heath on a regular basis and support students and staff.

Support is offered to young carers in the form of:

  • Drop-in sessions during PSHE and registration
  • Group Work / art sessions
  • Mentoring and Counselling sessions
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Drop in sessions with support workers from the Young Carers Centre
  • Homework support

If you would like any further information about the services available to Young Carers at The Heath please contact Mrs. Russell or Mrs. Bladen in the CSI department.
