Work has started on a brand new school building for The Heath School in Runcorn after the school has battled almost 10 years of delays and setbacks.
Work began preparing the ground during the summer break and The Heath School were delighted to welcome MP, Derek Twigg into school this week to witness the official ‘cutting the turf’ ceremony performed by Head Girl, Lauren Galligan.
The realisation of the new school design will provide The Heath with state of the art classroom environments for all with climate control as standard and will include a new sports and community centre, activity hall, Dance and Drama studios and cafeteria. External features include new tennis courts, multi-use games areas (MUGA’s) an amphitheater and external dining terrace. The building will house a new Sixth Form Centre and specialist laboratories, workshops and classrooms befitting a 21st Century School.
Principal at The Heath, Jamie Jardine said,
“This is a very exciting development for The Heath School, it has been a long journey to get to this stage and my thanks go to all involved, we are now looking forward to pressing ahead and making sure that the environment for our students matches the outstanding teaching and learning which takes place here every day.”
