Letter to parents – February half-term

23rd January 2016

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to inform you that school will close for the February half term break on Friday, 10th February 2017 at the usual time and the buses will collect students as normal; we re-open on Monday, 20th February at the usual time.    School closure details can always be found in the school newsletter or on the school website.   May I remind you that during school holiday closure periods reception will be staffed each Thursday and Friday should you need to contact the school for any reason.

Our new school building is progressing well and looks set to meet its anticipated handover date of December 2017 which will mean we will begin 2018 in our new building.  We try to keep our website as up to date as possible with photographs from a drone and updates from our constructors, Carillion.

I am sure you are more than aware that parked vehicles can make it difficult for children to find safe locations with adequate visibility to cross the road as they increase the risk of accident and injury.  May I remind you that parking is not allowed on the school site; I understand the pressures many parents are under juggling the school run with other commitments but I hope you will support me in addressing this issue.  Some students will be attending school during the February half term break for revision sessions etc and I would like to advise you that Carillion will be working on the main drive during that week and it will only be open during the hours of 8.30 am – 9.00 am and 2.30 – 3.00 pm.

Over recent months we have seen a rise in the number of students riding bikes into school.  I am an advocate of students getting to and from school in this way but have become concerned about the way a minority of students are behaving towards other road users and pedestrians.  Please can you ensure that your son or daughter rides to and from school in an appropriate manner and wears a helmet.  We will be holding a cycle proficiency programme in school in the near future.

We currently have a vacancy for a cleaner and would like to invite applications from individuals who take pride in their work, are reliable and trustworthy and would like to join our friendly team. The role will involve cleaning duties throughout the school to ensure cleaning standards are maintained to a high standard. The job role involves working in school; therefore Enhanced DBS clearance will be required.  Contact Mrs Morris on the school number if you are interested in this vacancy.

Thank you to those parents who have signed up to our School Gateway App; we are steadily extending the use of the App and you will now be able to view your child’s timetable and attendance record.  Over the next few terms we will be gradually phasing in payments online to assist in the payment of trips.  To access this information and facility you will need to be signed up to the School Gateway App and to activate your account you need to register using the email address that we hold for you at school.  If you have any difficulties accessing the App please contact Gayle Collins at school who will assist in getting you started.

My Principal’s surgeries take place between 4 pm and 7 pm on: Thursday, 9th February 2017; Thursday, 30th March 2017; Thursday, 25th May 2017 and Thursday, 6th July 2017.  Please contact my PA, Marie Wadsworth on the school number or email mwadsworth@heathschool.org.uk if you wish to make an appointment.

Yours sincerely

J Jardine

Principal
