Letter home to parents – Spring break

11th March 2016

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to inform you that school will close for the Easter weekend on Thursday, 24th March 2016 and will

re-open again on Tuesday, 29th March at the usual time.  School will then close for the Spring break on Friday,

1st April at the usual time and the buses will collect students as normal; we re-open on Monday, 18th April.    School is also closed on Monday, 2nd May which is a bank holiday.  School closure details can always be found in the school newsletter or on the school website.

It has come to my notice that a small minority of students have been coming in to school with a selection of refreshments (chocolate bars and drinks) in their bag with the intent to sell the goods on the school yard.  I am getting increasingly concerned with how some of these goods are sourced and the volume with which they are consumed.  With effect from Monday, 18th April if any students are caught selling; even if it is their first time they will be excluded from school for a fixed period of time.  Also if they have goods in their bags with the intent to sell then they will be excluded.  There will be toast available for students to buy during break on the school playground.

With regard to the new school build the funding has now been signed off by the Education Funding Agency (EFA).  Planning permission has been submitted to Halton Borough Council.  There will be a Heath School Development Consultation on 20th April where the architects, builders and others will be able to share detailed plans. I shall obviously let you know of any further updates as I receive them.

My Principal’s surgeries take place between 4 pm and 7 pm on:

  • Thursday, 31st March 2016;
  • Thursday, 19th May 2016;
  • Thursday, 7th July 2016

If you wish to make an appointment please email my PA Marie Wadsworth on mwadsworth@heathschool.org.uk or call her on the school number.

I would like to wish you all a relaxing Spring Break.  For those students in Years 11, 12 and 13 revision sessions will be held at school during the break and a complimentary lunch will be provided for students and staff on those days.  Students have been informed in advance of the dates and times of the sessions.

May I remind you that during the spring break closure reception will be staffed each day should you need to contact the school for any reason.

Yours sincerely
J Jardine Principal
