Letter home to parents January 2014

Ref: JJA/MW

13th January 2013

Dear Parent/Carer,

Thank you for your support in ensuring that students returned to school in January in full school uniform.  One thing that defines Heath students from those in other schools is the high standard of their uniform.  Please continue to ensure that your child attends school in the correct uniform so the day starts in a positive way conducive to learning.  If you have any concerns regarding uniform please do not hesitate to contact the Progress Coordinator for your child’s year group. We fully understand that we are currently in difficult financial times and we will endeavour to work with you to find a suitable solution.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that we have an INSET day on Friday, 14th February 2014 to facilitate work on preparation for the Sixth Form and that school will therefore close for the February half term break on Thursday, 13th February 2014 at the usual time and the buses will collect students as normal; we re-open on Monday, 24th February.    There has been a slight amendment to the summer term break up date and I can confirm that school will now close on Friday, 18th July 2014.  School closure details can always be found in the school newsletter or on the school website.   May I remind you that during school holiday closure periods reception will be staffed each Thursday and Friday should you need to contact the school for any reason.

We have two Learn for Life days coming up on 23rd and 24th January and the Year 11 Academic Review Day will take place on Thursday, 6th February 2014 and Year 8 ARD on Thursday, 13th February.

During this half term I will be speaking to students about the problem of litter around the school; as you may be already aware if a student drops litter on the site he/she will be issued with a fixed penalty fine of £10 payable to the school within ten school days.  For those parents who prefer an alternative to financial penalty it is possible for your child to undertake daily litter picking for 30 minutes after school for five days.

May I also remind you that my Principal’s Surgery will take place on Thursday, 6th February between 4pm and 7pm; if you wish to make an appointment please email my PA Marie Wadsworth on mwadsworth@heathschool.org.uk or call her on the school number.

Yours sincerely

J Jardine, Principal
