4th July 2016
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to remind you that the school will close for the summer break on Wednesday, 20th July at 1.00 pm and reception will be staffed until 2.00 pm on that day. Please make alternative arrangements for your child to get home on the 20th July as school buses will not be running. There will be no canteen facilities available on the last day but pupils in receipt of free school meals should order a packed lunch via their form tutor as soon as possible.
I am delighted to announce The Heath has achieved Artsmark Platinum Award. Artsmark inspires young people to create, experience and participate in extraordinary art and culture and is awarded by the Arts Council England. The Heath PE Department has been successful in becoming the first secondary school in Halton to secure the Gold Kitemark Award for our School Games Programme and Gold Quality Mark from the Youth Sport Trust. These achievements are a recognition of our ongoing commitment to PE and School Sport and we are very honoured to be recognised in this way.
As you may have seen in the press recently the plans for our new school were passed on Monday, 4th July. This is great news and we are delighted that our new school is now becoming a reality. I will keep you as up to date as possible with developments via our website and twitter.
‘A’ level results day is on Thursday, 18th August followed a week later by GCSE results day on Thursday, 25th August from 10 am onwards.
During the summer break reception will be staffed each Thursday and Friday (9.00 am –
2.30 pm), should you need to contact the school for any reason. School re-opens for students on Wednesday, 7th September Years 7, 9 and 10 should arrive at 8.55 am (Year 7 should go straight to the hall to meet their Form Tutor) followed by Years 8, 11, 12 and 13 at 11.30 am. This is to facilitate our induction and transition day.
In September 2016 we will have a vacancy on the governing body for a parent governor. We will be starting the election process in the autumn term, however in the meantime if you are interested in becoming a parent governor and would like further details please get in touch either on the school telephone number or by emailing the Clerk to Governors, Marie Wadsworth: firstname.lastname@example.org No special qualifications are needed and the most important thing is to have a keen interest in the school and be prepared to play an active part in the governing body’s work. Training is available for all governors and this governing body has an expectation that those new to being a governor attend free induction training.
We also have vacancies for casual examination invigilators in September; experience is not required, as training will be provided. If you are interested in applying then please email the Examination and Data Officer Elainna Chean for more details: email@example.com
Our sole, official uniform supplier is Best Sports, 4 Somerset Mews, Loch Street, Runcorn (any other business that is advertising as a supplier to this school is providing misinformation); any items that you need, including ties, are available from them. Please can you ensure that students arrive back in school in September in full uniform. If you have any problems obtaining items please contact the school. Please check the website/newsletter for detailed uniform advice; school shoes for both girls and boys should be black leather, not trainers or anything that could be interpreted as a training shoe and should not have brands/logos on them. Please can you ensure your child’s hairstyle is appropriate for school; again please check the school website for clarification.
I should like to thank you all for your continued support throughout this academic year and look forward to welcoming the students back in September for another successful year at The Heath.
