End of term letter – Christmas holidays

Ref: JJA/MW

26th November 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

You may recall that we recently held a ballot for the parent governor vacancy and I am delighted to announce that Mrs Maria Smith received the most votes and has therefore been appointed as parent governor for a four year term of office. On behalf of the local governing board I would like to thank all those parents who put their names forward and we are sorry that there were insufficient places for all those interested this time.  Details of the actual number of votes cast can be obtained on request from the school office.

On Friday, 21st December school will close at the usual time, 3.10 pm for the Christmas break and school buses will run as normal.

On Friday 14th December we will be holding a Christmas Jumper Day; students should wear full school uniform but may add a colourful Christmas jumper if they choose to (if they do not have a Christmas jumper they can decorate a jumper with tinsel).  If they do not wish to wear a Christmas jumper they may wear Christmas headwear as an alternative.  There will be no charge to students, however all staff wearing a Christmas jumper will pay £1 to raise funds for charity.

School Christmas dinner will be served to students on Wednesday, 12th December: £2.50 in the refectory; this will be a 3 course roast dinner and the only hot meal served on that day – please let your child know that there will be sandwiches/baguettes/cold pasta pots/salad offered as an alternative.

School re-opens on Monday, 7th January 2019 at the usual time and dates of school closure and re-opening can be found in the back of the newsletter or on the school website.  Please note that if we experience extreme weather which requires the school to close details will be on the school website, on the radio and text messages will be sent via the School Gateway app.

Governors have agreed to an adjustment to the school holiday calendar and I would like to give you advance notice that we will now close for the summer break on Friday, 19th July 2019.

May I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year and thank you for your continued support this term.

Yours sincerely,

J Jardine

Executive Principal
