End of summer term letter to parents

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to remind you that the school will close for the summer break on Friday, 17th July at 1.00 pm and reception will be staffed until 2.00 pm on that day. Please make alternative arrangements for your child to get home on the 17th July as school
buses will not be running. There will be no canteen facilities available on the last day but pupils in receipt of free school meals have been asked to order a packed lunch via their form tutor this week.

During the summer break reception will be staffed each Thursday and Friday (9.00 am – 2.30 pm), should you need to contact the school for any reason. School re-opens for students on Thursday, 3rd September Years 7, 9 and 10 should arrive at 8.55 am
(Year 7 should go straight to the hall to meet their Form Tutor) followed by Years 8, 11, 12 and 13 at 11.30 am. This is to facilitate our induction and transition day. For those Year 11 students wishing to join the Sixth Form in September interviews will take place on Thursday 20th August from 10.30am onwards. After collecting their exam results students should make their way to the Sixth Form Centre where they will be interviewed by a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Can I also take this opportunity to give you a chance to come into school to find out more about your child’s upcoming year ahead by attending the year information evening. These evenings will be presented by the Progress Co-ordinator for the year group and provide an ideal opportunity for you to meet and talk to key members of the year team and learn about the events that will be taking place during the school year. They are held 6- 7 pm and dates will be as follows: Year 7-5th November 2015; Year 8- 21st October; Year 9- 14th October; Year 10- 7th October; Year 11 and prospective 2015 Sixth Form entrants 23rd September 2015.

Our sole, official uniform supplier is now Best Sports, 4 Somerset Mews, Loch Street, Runcorn (any other business that is advertising as a supplier to this school is providing misinformation); any items that you need, including ties, are available from
them. Please can you ensure that students arrive back in school in September in full uniform. If you have any problems obtaining items please contact the school. Please check the website/ newsletter for detailed uniform advice; school shoes for
both girls and boys should be black leather, not trainers or anything that could be interpreted as a training shoe and should not have brands/logos on them. Please can you ensure your child’s hairstyle is appropriate for school; again please check the school
website for clarification.

I would like to share with you some useful information; as part of the NSPCC’s Share Aware campaign, they have developed a guide, about the social networks, apps or games with an interactive element that children and young people use most frequently. We have found this to be a fantastic resource which tells you all about the social network site, app or game, safety advice and details about the privacy settings. It also details reporting and blocking information for each site. It is particularly useful for parents of our lower school students who are considering setting up social networking accounts. More information
can be found here: http://www.net-aware.org.uk/  Another site that we have found very helpful is https://www.commonsensemedia.org/parent-concerns

I should like to thank you all for your continued support throughout this academic year and look forward to welcoming students back in September for another successful year at the Heath.

Your Sincerely

Jamie Jardine
